Property
website coolcaves.com pledges help to the homeless
BEGINS...
How many estate agents pledge over 20% of their turnover to
charity? Incredibly, that is just what coolcaves.com, the
online property advertising service, is doing. From now on,
the website will donate £20 of its £95 flat fee
to Centrepoint, the national youth homelessness charity. Coolcaves.com
was born out of a desire to offer an ethical and real alternative
to estate agents. Part of the company’s ethos was to
put something back into society and a partnership with a charity
helping the homeless felt like a natural fit.
Anthony
Lawton, Centrepoint Chief Executive commented: ‘We are
delighted with the support from coolcaves.com. Homelessness
remains a real issue, our recent research highlights that
up to 52,000 young people are estimated to have been ‘found
homeless’ by local authorities in England in 2003. We
hope this partnership with coolcaves.com will inspire others
to fund our work with young homeless people.’
Paul
McGuckin, coolcaves.com founder said, ‘People say that
moving home is stressful, but it's surely not as bad as being
homeless at the age of 16. Young people are our future and
that’s why we donate £20 of our £95 fee
to Centrepoint. £20 will house a young homeless person
for a night, feed them and provide emotional support and advice
while they are there.’ ...ENDS (213 words)
